FAQ - Face - Photofacial Rejuvenation
Q: What is IPL Skin Rejuvenation?
A: IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatment, also known as PhotoFacial, is a non-laser medical device used to deliver a series of gentle pulses of light to the skin. This innovative technique allows for the energy levels of Intense Pulse Light to target and eliminate damaged areas and effectively correct both 1)Reds: rosacea, broken capillaries, and redness to the neck and chest and 2)Browns: age spots, freckles and uneven pigmentation. The procedure will also reduce wrinkling and large pores, and leave your skin feeling softer and looking younger.
Q: Who is the best candidate for IPL Treatments?
A: IPL Treatments are for anyone who wants to have visible improvement in facial redness and flushing as well as reversing the signs of sun damage and aging, with little discomfort and minimal risk. People who suffer with rosacea see an improvement in breakouts and are able to decrease or discontinue their medications. These treatments are designed for people who don’t want any disruption from their normal activities or downtime required to heal from laser resurfacing or chemical peels.
Q: What is an IPL Treatment like?
A: Each treatment takes approximately 60 minutes. For maximum results, Dr. Wright will select the specific settings required for each treatment target – this protocol is an advanced technique not offered in many clinics. A mild amount of discomfort can be expected. Although anesthetic cream is not required, it is available at our office and can be applied 20 minutes before treatment. There is no discomfort after the procedure. A series of five treatments are performed at four week intervals for optimal improvement.
Q: How soon will I see results?
A: After your first treatment, your skin will feel smoother and will have a more even tone. Immediately following a treatment, the skin may appear red and brown spots may appear more visible, but these changes gradually fade over a period of hours to a few days. With completion of each treatment you can expect to see continuing results and will gradually achieve consistent and dramatic improvement in sun damage, redness, brown spots and wrinkling
Q: Can I combine PhotoFacial with other Treatments?
A: The answer is – YES! Microdermabrasions are done after several of the IPL treatments in order to achieve maximum exfoliation of pigmentation. Dr. Wright also finds that patients who want to have an elegant redefinition of their facial contours can combine IPL with Botox for a more relaxed facial expression or include facial fillers for lip augmentation and facial lifting. Finally, WrinkleLite can be done immediately after your IPL treatment to further reduce the fine lines around the mouth.
The combination of treatments will enhance the results of the IPL procedures and provide the healthiest and youngest looking skin possible.
